- - Julep | Lucky Mystery Box - -

EDIT: I now have reviews up for: the Shannon box, the Taryn box, and the 100% Mystery box

Hi everyone!

Have you seen the new Mystery Boxes from Julep? With St. Patrick's day just around the corner (March 17th), Julep has released 4 variations of their Lucky Mystery Box. For $24.99 you can get a box that is valued at over $100 and includes a unique nail polish.

Keep in mind that you don't need to have a Julep subscription to purchase mystery boxes.

Judging by the recent changes to Julep's shipping policy (with DHL being made the standard shipping courier), chances are slim that you'll get this mystery box in time for St. Patrick's Day. I'm not sure if it has to do with not being born in North America, but I've never really cared too much for St. Patrick's Day, so it doesn't matter if I get this box in time for it or not. Maybe you're like me and just love mystery boxes for their, well...mystery?

Anyways, let's take a look at the 4 variations being offered this month...

Previous Mystery Boxes:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lucky Mystery Box #1

Shannon (It Girl) is described as a "pale minty silk." I don't think I have a polish that would be considered a "silk" in my collection. This is really pretty and I'm glad that Julep released the swatches for it because it's difficult to truly appreciate or understand what a polish looks like from only seeing the bottle.

Lucky Mystery Box #2

Aislinn (Boho Glam) is described as "an edgy black with green glitter." Aislinn appears to be a full-coverage polish.

 Lucky Mystery Box #3

Taryn (It Girl) is described as "deep sea teal holographic glitter." From the pictures, it looks like Taryn has a clear base.

I find that sometimes I'm attracted to a polish not only by its swatches but also by its description...and judging by how attracted I am to nail polishes such as Angela and Kristen, I seem to be really loving the phrase, "deep sea."

 Lucky Mystery Box #4

What's in this last box? Who knows! All that Julep has revealed is that it contains $100+ worth of products that are sworn to not overlap with the other 3 mystery boxes.

Thoughts

One of the things that I like about Julep's mystery boxes is that they seem to come out with a new nail polish specifically for them. On the one hand, you get something new without waiting for the Maven window to be open every month. One the other hand though, since the featured nail polishes don't seem to be available for individual purchase afterwards, you have to choose between mystery boxes, with many people often purchasing several boxes at once (very clever business strategy, Julep!).

I've already put in my order for Lucky Mystery Box #3 and #4. I may just go for Mystery Box #1 as well.

Is there a mystery box that catches your eye?

Thanks for reading! -A.~
