- - [3] Cards Against Humanity | 10 Days or Whatever of Kwanzaa | Day 3 Review - -
Hey guys! I hope you are all having a lovely holiday season!
Today I have for you the Day 3 envelope from Cards Against Humanity's holiday event, the 10 Days or Whatever of Kwanzaa.
Here's the rundown of this year's Holiday Bulls--t campaign - you pay Cards Against Humanity $15 (Canadians pay $25) and get sent 10 little mystery gifts for the "10 days or whatever of Kwanzaa." In addition to getting some interesting gifts, there is also a hidden puzzle somewhere amidst the gifts for which there is some sort of wonderful prize. You can follow along with the progress of the puzzle with CAH here.
Let's take a look at envelope #3 right after the jump...

- - Memebox | Special #52: Wonderful Treasure Finds (WTF) Review - -
I've gotten a few Memeboxes since my last Memebox (pronounced as "Me-me-box") review, but it's only now that I actually have the time to sit down for a few hours and tell you guys about one box I've been particularly excited about.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Memebox is an online Korean beauty retailer that in addition to carrying their own product line as well as ones from other brands, offers boxes curated around different themes. The great thing about these curated Memeboxes is that you get to discover a vast variety of Korean beauty products. After the shipping fee most boxes go for about $20-$30 (look at the end of this post for discount codes!).
It was in November that Memebox released their Special #52 box titled Wonderful Treasure Finds or WTF for short. The box cost $23.00 (US) with a shipping fee of $6.99. I used a $5 off coupon so my grand total was about $24.99.

- - [2] Cards Against Humanity | 10 Days or Whatever of Kwanzaa | Day 2 Review - -
A few days ago I finally got a chance to take photos of and open up the second 10 Days or Whatever of Kwanzaa envelope from Cards Against Humanity. If you missed the contents of Day One - you can check those out here.
Here's a quick rundown of what this year's Holiday Bulls--t campaign is all about - you hand over $15 (Canadians fork over $25) to Cards Against Humanity and get sent 10 little mystery gifts for the "10 days or whatever of Kwanzaa." There is also some sort of difficult puzzle that's hidden amidst these gifts, which I know a lot of you are trying to figure out judging by the Google searches you guys use to end up on my pages. I'm not sure how helpful it is, but you can actually follow along the progress of the puzzle on the official CAH website for the puzzle.
After checking out last year's reviews, I thought that the second envelope would contain a small pack of CAH cards (for the record, the envelope seemed bulky enough to contain a pack) which were prominent in last year's envelopes. Nope, no such luck. The contents of the second envelope were much more unexpected.
People who get offended easily...um, beware. No, seriously.
Let's take a look after the jump.

- - Canadian Living | An Evening With Jodi Picoult+Goodie Bag Review - -
Just before I went on vacation about a month ago, my best friend Thamina asked me if I had seen the Jodi Picoult event that was being advertised in one of those little side panels on Facebook. I don't usually pay attention to those (I guess I will now, haha!), but hearing the name, Jodi Picoult, sparked my interest instantly.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Jodi Picoult, she is the author of 23 novels - the most well-known of which is probably My Sister's Keeper. She has been my favourite author since 2008, which is when I came across one of her novels - Nineteen Minutes. I'm sure you can just imagine how excited I was!
I'll tell you more after the jump!

- - [1] Cards Against Humanity | 10 Days or Whatever of Kwanzaa | Day 1 Review - -
A few weeks ago I put up a post on Facebook letting you guys know that Cards Against Humanity, the beloved/hated mature and satirical card game, was organizing their second ever Holiday Bulls--t campaign. Everyone who was signed up on their mailing list got an email about it, but I hope that those of you who don't receive CAH emails got a chance to sign up as well.
The campaign concept is simple - you hand over $15 ($25 for Canadians) to CAH and get sent 10 little mystery gifts for the "10 days or whatever of Kwanzaa." I didn't participate last year, but I did check out the reviews that were available online and seeing how cool and unique the little gifts were, I decided to sign up. I also signed up Andrew for this so that we could do something different this year.

- - Monthly Manicure(s) | September 2014 - -
Yup, only one manicure for September! Between two part-time jobs and school it has been tough to do anything else but sleep whenever I can. In the next couple of weeks I'll start to slowly start rolling out posts, so make sure you look out for those. As always guys, thanks for bearing with me!

- - Monthly Manicures | August 2014 - -
If there's one thing I've been faithful to this year on my blog it's definitely my Monthly Manicures series. Every month I put up a complete roundup of manicures that I have done during a given month. The purpose of this series isn't to show off some sort of talent that I have for nail art, but rather to talk about new polishes and techniques I get to try out.
Without further ado, let me show you what kinds of manicures I had in August!

- - Julep | The Art Walk Collection | September 2014 Review - -
Hello! Lovely to see you again :)
I have officially given up on trying to catch up with my reviews. It would've been nice to not have any gaps in my subscription box write ups, but worrying about being behind hasn't helped me one bit. Moving forward, as school has started up again last week I won't have as much time as I would like to for reviews, so I'm just going to take it one week at a time and see what kind of posts I can put up.
Today I have for you a review of the Julep Art Walk Collection for September 2014, which was a fantastic set of autumn colours that you can check out here.
After going back and forth on my selections I finally decided to go with the It Girl box, which I customized to include: Ryan, Mahima, and a Plush Pout Lip Crayon (feature product for September) in Magenta Plum. I also added on the Boho Glam box so that I could try the Almond Nude Plush Pout, Erin, and my favourite polish from the online swatches - Mary Lee.

- - Beauty Box 5 | "Summer Chic" | June 2014 Review - -
Happy Tuesday!
Sigh...so many boxes, so little time. Today I have for you a review of the June Beauty Box 5. I got to see the spoiler for this box ahead of time, which was one of two shades of Nicka K nail polish (Lavender or Ripe Apple). I think I was secretly hoping for Lavender, but I wouldn't have minded either shade. Let's take a closer look...

- - Memebox | Special #23: Girls' Night Out Review - -
Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Memebox is an online Korean beauty retailer that sells several types of beauty boxes for a variety of prices. These boxes include: the original Memeboxes (global editions), themed boxes, Luckyboxes, Superboxes, and Collaboration boxes. I have yet to purchase a Global Edition Memebox, but those are kind of like a subscription that you have to purchase on an individual or pre-paid basis. They sell out pretty quickly and you usually have to purchase them months in advance (the latest Global Edition Memebox is #17 and it ships in November!).
In any case, I did purchase a couple of themed Memeboxes early on in the month. They were the Special #23: Girls' Night Out box and the Special #26: Hand & Nail Care box. I'm still waiting on the latter, but I do have the former to review for you today! There are also discount codes at the end of this post, so check those out if you get a chance.
Happy Sunday!
I have been hearing and reading reviews about Memebox (pronounced as "mi-mi-box" / "me-me-box") for a while now, so when I was invited to join their affiliate program I decided that perhaps it was time to buy a box for myself to see what it was all about.

- - Memories of Muskoka - -
Hi everyone!
This past weekend I went to a cottage in Muskoka for three days and two nights with Andrew and two of our good friends. Muskoka is beautiful cottage country roughly 3 hours north of Toronto. Recently I found out that the National Geographic Traveler magazine has previously given this regional municipality distinctions for being one of the best places to visit in Canada and, in fact, even the world.
The weather wasn't the greatest for the day that we were there the longest (Saturday), but we made the best of it with some ATV rides, a short hike, Taboo and Cards Against Humanity. There was also some swimming for two of us (not for the other two though - water was too cold), fishing, and a lot of chipmunk feeding and bird watching for me. All in all just a nice break from the chaos of everyday life.
You can check out some of the highlights after the jump...

- - Julep | An Extensive Guide to the Maven Subscription - -
Hi everyone,
Today's post is going to be fairly lengthy, but if you're genuinely interested in learning a lot about Julep's Maven subscription I think this post will be worth your while.
I'm writing about Julep today mainly because I keep seeing the wrong information about the Maven subscription all over the place. So hopefully this basic guide will include everything you need to know about what the subscription entails - both the good and the not so good.
Within the past six months, Julep has changed two major aspects of its Maven subscription: (1) the skipping option, and (2) the subscription plan itself. I'll discuss both of these in some detail throughout this post.

- - Film Review Friday | Week 4 - -
This week I'm a little bit late with my film reviews, so that's why this post is being published on a Saturday as opposed to a Friday. Moving on - today I have two great films to talk about (one of which is still out in theatres): Bridesmaids and Lucy.
Please note that although I try my best to not give anything away, there may be spoilers in this post. There may actually be more spoilers in this post than typical, especially for Lucy - so if you haven't watched that film, don't read anything below!

- - Julep | The Poolside Collection | July 2014 Review - -
Hi everyone,
It's been way too long since my last Julep review! As always, I'm working on fixing that. Just before the July Maven collection was revealed I realized that there are usually spoilers a day or so before the Maven window opens, so for anyone who can't wait to check out the new colours each month definitely see if you can find something on Google in the days leading up to the Maven reveal.
For July's Poolside Collection there were a lot of really nice basic crèmes. I loved the colours and was pretty tempted to get the whole collection, but I decided to hold out and save my Jules. The two colours that were my favourite this month were Lissa and Kelsey, but unfortunately they were in different boxes. Since I wasn't willing to part with my Jules just yet, I gave up my original subscription of $19.99/mo and signed up for My Maven ($24.99/mo) just so that I could customize my box and pair those two colours together. Then, just before the August reveal I asked customer service to switch me over to the 3-month prepaid subscription so I could go back to paying $19.99/mo.
Finally, after waiting for what seemed like forever to get my box, it arrived at my doorstep! Let's take a closer look at what I got right after the jump...

Hi friends!
Fun fact - this my 100th post! This blog has definitely come a long way since my very first post and it continues to develop and go in a variety of directions. As always, it's lovely to have you here on this journey with me!
Today I have another set of three films that I watched this past week. Please note that although I try my best to not give anything away, there may be spoilers in this post. If this is okay with you, let's move on!

- - Luxe Box | Summer 2014 Review | Anchors Away Upgrade - -
Hi everyone,
Just over a month ago I received my Summer 2014 Luxe Box by Loose Button. The only thing I don't like about this subscription is that you get a box once every season (once every 3 months), but there's always such anticipation in the air when it's the month of shipment!
Upgrades and add-ons become available roughly a month before Luxe Box starts shipping out its boxes. While I love the element of surprise and don't usually go for the upgrades because you know ahead of time what samples you will get, I did choose the Anchors Away upgrade this time around. The Achors Away upgrade cost $4.00 (CAD) and it guaranteed: a Nicole by OPI nail polish (I Shop Mintage), two glass beads by Joseph Nogucci, and a Teeez eyeliner, all in addition to 4-5 unknown products.

THIS WAS THE LAST BOX FROM INNER CIRCLE.
Read more about the cancellation of this program here.
Hi everyone!
It feels like it has been forever since my last Inner Circle review. It's going to take some time, but I'm slowly going to catch up with all of my reviews. Thanks for bearing with me!
I received my July Inner Circle package two days ago (July 17) and I'm pretty happy with everything that was in it. This month there were more foil packets than there usually are, but I think some leeway is allowed for a sampling service that is consistently providing deluxe-sized and full-sized products.

- - Film Review Friday | Week 1 - -
Hi friends,
I hope you've all been doing well! Thank you for being so patient with me while I hid away for two weeks. With tons of shifts at work and assignments due for school, it's been tough to stick to a regular blogging schedule.
Anyways, in an effort to broaden my horizon in the field of films and also to give me another reason to put up a post each week, I've decided to start up a new series! Each Friday (or every other Friday) I'm going to talk about the new movies I watched leading up to that point (in the order I watched them). This week will be an exception as I'm posting this on a Saturday instead of a Friday.
Although I'm going to try my best not to give anything away, please note that there may be spoilers in these posts.
Without further ado, let's begin!

- - Monthly Manicures | June 2014 - -
Hi everyone,
This month I didn't get to do as many manicures as I did last month, but that's mainly because I've been letting my nails breathe and recover. I've also been feeling lazy and uninspired, which greatly factors in as well. Nonetheless, I'm pretty happy with the few simple manis I did this month, and I'm anxious to share them with you.

Hey everyone!
My sincere apologies for missing last week's Teacup Tuesday post. I had actually only tried one new tea that week, so I figured it wasn't worth a whole blog post. However, this past week I tried so many teas that I hope you're ready for a lengthy post.

- - Teacup Tuesday | Week 1 - -
Hey everyone!
I have decided to start up a weekly series called Teacup Tuesday. The concept for this series came to me when I was brainstorming " _____-a-day" ideas that I could start up. Trying out a new tea every day for a month and then documenting it sounded like a great project, but I wanted to keep things casual and nonobligatory. Instead, what I'm doing is this - every Tuesday I will give you a recap of the various kinds of new teas I tried the week prior. I'll include tons of pictures and hopefully we'll get to talk about tea together in the comments. :)
Let's take a look at the teas I tried this week after the jump...

Disclaimer: I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
Happy Wednesday!
I'm back today with part two of my review of the imPress Influenster VoxBox that I received last week. Although there were variations in designs, everyone who received this VoxBox got two press-on manicures. Mine were Dancing Queen and Over the Moon. I've already tried out Dancing Queen a few days ago and now I wanted to show you how Over the Moon worked out for me.

Disclaimer: I received these products complimentary from Influenster for review purposes.
Hey everyone!Last week I opened up my mailbox and was pleasantly surprised to find a small Influenster VoxBox there. I knew that Influenster was preparing to send out the very first Canadian VoxBoxes because I was emailed a questionnaire that would determine my eligibility for one. But I never received a tracking number (until this week, haha) or anything , so I had no idea what this mysterious white box was until I saw the "Influenster" sticker on it.
As with most of my reviews, this will be a lengthy and picture-heavy post.
Let's take a closer look at what was inside the VoxBox right after the jump...

First thing I would like to draw your attention to - Julep has altered the rules for their subscription service. You can either look at my brief overview after the jump or check out Julep's blog post about the matter. The changes affect Mavens signing up for Julep after April 29, 2014.
Moving on - I'm soo behind in my reviews...forgive me! I'm slowly working through them though. Today I have for you a review of last month's Vivid Collection from Julep. Even though I had a birthday in April, I decided to keep things simple and (fairly) cheap, so I chose the Boho Glam profile with Kayla and Tatum as add-ons.

- - Julep | Golden Ticket Mystery Box - -
*Please note that you don't need to have a Julep subscription to be able to purchase mystery boxes.* |
Have you ever read or watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Remember how there were golden tickets to be found in chocolate bars? Well Julep is playing with a similar idea for their latest batch of mystery boxes.
For $24.99 (US) you are able to get a box with $100+ worth of unknown Julep goodies (nail polish and beauty products) AND have a chance at drawing a golden ticket that unlocks the prestige of having a nail polish named after you.
There are three boxes to choose from and there is a total of three golden tickets to be found.
Compared to the mystery boxes of the past few months, I'm actually pretty excited about these mystery boxes. Read further to find out why...

Hey everyone!
I've got a confession to make - I didn't end up finishing the April photo challenge. For some reason I just lost steam at the end of the month and decided that I was skipping way too many days to catch up. What I am going to show you are the remaining photos I have from April.
The
concept of the Fat Mum Slim photo challenge is simple: take a picture a day that
corresponds with the guiding prompts (see below) and then share it

Nothing was known about the 100% Mystery Box. There was no advertised featured polish, no hint as to the contents. Hey everyone!
This review and the next couple of others that follow are long overdue, and I apologize for that. I received my three Julep Lucky Mystery Boxes on March 24 and 25 - a week after St. Patrick's day had passed. It takes forever to receive my Julep purchases and mystery boxes, but I've now come to expect that from DHL. Nonetheless, I did finally get the boxes and will now share the contents with you. Because there are already so many reviews of these mystery boxes, I'll try to keep my reviews short.
You will soon be able to find the other Lucky Mystery Box reviews here:

- - Photo A Day Challenge | April 2014 | Week 3/4 - -
Hey everyone!
As I mentioned last Monday, I have decided to join in the April 2014 photo-a-day challenge that is hosted by Chantelle of Fat Mum Slim. Today, I have the second installment of photos to show you. You can check out my first set of photos from last week here.
The concept of this challenge is simple: take a picture a day that corresponds with the guiding prompts (see below) and then share it with the #FMSphotoaday hashtag.
As a reminder, here are the prompts for this month:

- - Julep | "Adored" Lip Gloss - -
Hi friends!
I'm behind on so many reviews, but my last exam is this upcoming Tuesday, so I'm sure I'll be back on track soon enough. In the meantime, thank you so much for bearing with me!
A few weeks ago Julep was having their Shine All Year promotion, which featured a set that included: Kessie (the radiant orchid Pantone Colour of the Year), the Freedom Polymer Top Coat, and the Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum. The set was free with a $30 purchase, so I quickly filled my cart with $30 worth of products - this amounted to only two nail polishes and a lip gloss - and used the promo code.
After waiting a couple of weeks, I finally received the package! I was SO excited! Sadly, Julep totally made a mistake and forgot to include the set that I had made this very purchase for...ugh. Luckily, Julep has since shipped out a new set for me (without Kessie since it's unavailable - I'm receiving Coretta instead) and I'm awaiting its arrival.
Anyways, the good news is that because of my purchase I can now show you guys "Adored", the latest addition to my Julep lip gloss collection, and how it compares to the other Julep lip gloss shades I own.
Check out the pictures after the jump...

- - Photo A Day Challenge | April 2014 | Week 2/4 - -
Source: Fat Mum Slim |
Hi everyone!
This month I've decided to try out a monthly photo challenge hosted by Chantelle of Fat Mum Slim. I only found out about this challenge after the first week of April, but after being assured by Rebecca of Hello Pretty Bird! (who is participating as well) that the photo challenge police were unlikely to come after me if I started now, I have made the decision to jump in and see what I could come up with for the remining days in April. :)
The concept of this challenge is simple: take a picture a day that corresponds with the guiding themes in the photo above and then share it with the #FMSphotoaday hashtag.
I'm going to show you my photos on a weekly basis, but I may also end up sharing them on a daily basis on the Magnificent Road facebook page. I'll probably do a final recap of all the photos at the end of the month.
Let us now take a look at what I came up with for April 8 - April 13!
